I am Professor Dr. Md. Mahmud Sazzad, working at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Bangladesh.  I received a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology in Bangladesh (2000), an M. Eng. degree in Civil Engineering from Saitama University, Japan (2006), and a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Saitama University, Japan (2011). I was the former head of the department of Urban & Regional Planning, RUET. My current research interests include the discrete element method (DEM), Finite element method (FEM), computational mechanics, slope stability analysis, soil mechanics, foundation engineering, etc. I am the author/coauthor of more than 40 journal articles in renowned publishers including ASCE, Elsevier, Springer, and 41 conference papers. I achieved Gold Medal Award for Outstanding Academic Performance in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at RUET. I was a recipient of the ADB-JSPScholarship Program during my master's degree and the MEXT scholarship during my Ph.D. degree. I am currently involved as the reviewer of many renowned International Journals and Conferences. I also worked as an Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Advanced Structures and Geotechnical Engineering.
